Hi Ben,

Thanks! :-)

The WebM container is (as far as I understand it) just a restricted version of the Matroska container, so technically any codec can be put into it. But since we already offer Matroska, I agree that it should automatically select VP8 as the codec when the user selects WebM, since that's almost certainly what was wanted.

Wow! You did some great work after your outback walkabout. Oggconvert is awesomeness!

Congratulations on being the first project to get working webm encoding. Well, perhaps you're not the first, but you're the first I've seen that's being shipped with Debian/Testing (Squeeze).

By the way, my favorite feature of oggconvert is that it focuses on converting only to Free codecs and containers. Perhaps because of that choice, the interface is perfect. Not a lot of buttons and the steps are clearly linear (grayed out buttons), so it is super easy to use.

By the way, when converting to webm, oggconvert doesn't automatically switch to VP8 codec. I think it should, and perhaps even gray out Theora and Dirac. If I'm not mistaken, WebM is supposed to only do VP8. Or am I wrong?

Hi,

Just discovered this little jewel and i'm using it with Ubuntu 9.10.
Works like a charm, pitty though that it's converting just one file at a time.
Any new releases in the near future? As this is a post from 2008.

Gtrz.

Thanks for this nice piece of software. It's quick and converts sound and video to a free format without the hassle.

I'm using OGG video for my development team since it only requires Firefox. Currently I'm just running a VirtualBox Ubuntu so I can convert the videos, but will look forward to a stable Windows client :)

It seems to work nicely but not being able to select a folder or set of folders for conversion *seriously* limits this application's utility. Is there perhaps a command line, et al for conversion that would do the trick?
